Flying high on the totem pole
Solitude and strength her primary role
The lady who fought the battle of the Alamo
Now revered by friend and foe

Welcomed strangers from far off lands
Ready and waiting with open hands
She fell from grace with the coloured man
Now she fights to undo the mighty Klan

She conquered her native sons
Tears still heard over the noise of those wretched guns
Waging war on her immortal soul
History does not tell of the deadened toll

Grace and God fills the void
A brutal history she cannot avoid
When all is said and done
She still soars along side the rising sun

Always ready for a fight
Her eyes not tamed by the scary night
She stands tall for all to see
Ready to defend you and even me.

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
