The Crucible

The Crucible

A strange object appeared amidst the stars
Clashing waves greeted the presence as dueling guitars
Tree limbs stretched in the path of the fiery crucible
Creatures murmured that the event was greater than biblical

Towering skyscrapers trembled as if to their feet
Grand bridges swayed to and fro conducting a symphonic beat
Trains bellowed as they travelled their destined trek
Technology transformed to a world-wide wreck

The garden flowers stood erect with an unknowing fear
Mother Nature began marching to a higher gear
Inquisitive children looked to the skies in aw-filled joy
The times had just unleashed their newest toy.

Thank you,
Joseph Pede

For those of you too lazy to look up the meaning of the word crucible:

1. A vessel made of a refractory substance such as graphite or porcelain, used for melting and calcining materials at high temperatures.
2. A severe test, as of patience or belief; a trial.
3. A place, time, or situation characterized by the confluence of powerful intellectual, social, economic, or political forces.
