The Outside of Town

The Outside of Town

Cobble streets converted to barren concrete
Rubber replaces the old leather soles
Footsteps on the pebble roads
Turned to ghostly gaits
Celestial pathways
Forgotten victims of Man’s growing ignorance

The outside of town
Has completely flipped around

Towering forests built by nature
Destroyed by the axman’s greed
Crystal clear rivers
Now run murky with chemical sewage
The purity of the mountain top air
Now spews fumes of radioactive waste

Everything pure has turned black
All that was white has turned to dust

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
