Make a Right Hand Turn at Heaven’s Door

Make a Right Hand Turn at Heaven’s Door

So you woke up to another day
Decided to get dressed and wash away the decay
The locked front door guards you from the chaos outside
Draped windows shelter tranquility's hyde

The threshold is one foot away to another world
Yawns accompany the mind as it begins to unfurl
A second step past the door begins the humdrum stride
Your guardian angel all at once has left your side

A left turn leads you to an awaiting bus stop
The bus driver soon arrives with his sardine prop
People glare at one another with apprehensive unease
Society has successfully implanted the stranger’s disease

Straight ahead as you walk towards an awaiting café
Medium double-double prepares you for the caffeine bouquet
Exit the elevator to the 21st floor
Then make a right hand turn at Heaven’s door.

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
