Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Evergreens coated in luminescent snow

Rambunctious squirrels mischievously rummaging for grub

Lonely street lights casting a gentle glow

Sparrows chirping a symphony of song

Blackened slush resting atop the salty pavement

A rainbow of lights ornament the empty verandas

Acorn filled wreaths hanging above expressionless knockers

A dog peeing on the soldier-like hydrant

Roguish raccoons readying their forage atop the refuse bin

Lovers clutching hands as they hold each other close

Smokey chimneys radiating the air with the smell of burning wood

The sunlit moon gazing upon the petrified calm

Stars twinkling their angelic code

Upon us is the Saviour’s birth, Merry Christmas.

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
