The Art of Love

The Art of Love

Each night I rest alongside the love of my life

Knowing the heart is game to a stranger’s knife

I speak of a love that will last for all ages, and

The secrets which are hidden inside a diary’s pages

Daily the heart is ardently tempted

A stranger’s embrace the mind has many times fictionally attempted

The abundance of life’s pleasures can arouse all senses

For the weakened quarry, romantic pleasures have no mortal defenses

God has made complicated the art of love

Human desire is like the many fingers of a comfortable glove

One extremity is held ransom by a religious promise

The others are the skeptical rascals of the doubting Thomas

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
