The Whinding Key

The Whinding Key

Back and forth the pendulum swings
The hands of time go round and round
The dial creepily steadfast
Weights gently fall with each tic and tock
The whinding key retreated to slumber

Moments turn to seconds
Seconds to minutes
Minutes exhaust themselves into hours
Hours rise and set with each passing day
Days mark the passage of the vanishing week
Months menstruate into years

Facets of time which will craft a lifetime
Tracing one’s footsteps from beginning to end, and
Everything in between
From womb to coffin
From front door to cellar door
From spiritual wonder to paradise lost
The transition from God to Satan

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
