The Maestro

The Maestro

Violins shrieking
Bach’s piano keys quivering
Heavenly constellations congregating in majestic order
The Maestro benignly enters
In one hand the power of creation
In the other a broken heart
The beat of the powwow drum palpitating
The moon in quarter looking on with one ominous eye
In the darkness the sun indiscernably resting
Proclamations of Hallelujah the Magi joyously aver
At the center of this magical story
A Child lays resting, glowing in the manger
The whining cello joins the ghosts of long ago
Giovanna d’Arco unfolds as Verdi’s curtain ascends above the stage
The onset of silence is heard throughout the night.

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
