I Have Cast Myself Adrift

I Have Cast Myself Adrift

I stand as an island
Surrounded by concrete and asphalt
My footsteps walk among the many
But the many appear as distant as the moon
They chatter as birds
Never to find solace in a tree
They move about in an ocean of insanity
Never seeking to ease the pain of not knowing
They gaze upon one another as tormented lovers
Not realizing that we are but one soul
I have cast myself adrift
There into the nothingness,
Finding comfort in the void

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
