Imagine Lennon

Imagine Lennon

Janis Joplin died much too young
The devil’s needle managed to rigor her tongue
Hendrix never knew what booze could do
His guitar was silenced by a septic brew

Morrison bathed waiting for the sun
Imagine Lennon shot by a son of a gun
Marley found he had no way out
The establishment silenced the Whaler’s shout

Fame is as fleeting as a summer day
But the words of the songwriter may inspire you to pray
Never could you contemplate Cobain as a holy man
Grunge proved more popular than the Ku Klux Klan

Our heroes who died in psychedelic fashion
Seeking Lucy in the sky and all her compassion
Rest with their music and inspired song
Asking Beethoven to play along

Thank you,
Joseph Pede
