Cancer ‘vaccine’ eliminates tumors in mice

Activating T cells in tumors eliminated even distant metastases in mice, Stanford researchers found. Lymphoma patients are being recruited to test the technique in a clinical trial.

Injecting minute amounts of two immune-stimulating agents directly into solid tumors in mice can eliminate all traces of cancer in the animals, including distant, untreated metastases, according to a study by researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
The approach works for many different types of cancers, including those that arise spontaneously, the study found.
The researchers believe the local application of very small amounts of the agents could serve as a rapid and relatively inexpensive cancer therapy that is unlikely to cause the adverse side effects often seen with body wide immune stimulation.
“When we use these two agents together, we see the elimination of tumors all over the body,” said Ronald Levy, MD, professor of oncology. “This approach bypasses the need to identify tumor-specific immune targets and doesn’t require wholesale activation of the immune system or customization of a patient’s immune cells.”
One agent is already approved for use in humans; the other has been tested for human use in several unrelated clinical trials. A clinical trial was launched in January to test the effect of the treatment in patients with lymphoma. (Information about the trial is available online.)
Levy, who holds the Robert K. and Helen K. Summy Professorship in the School of Medicine, is the senior author of the study, which was published Jan. 31 in Science Translational Medicine. Instructor of medicine Idit Sagiv-Barfi, PhD, is the lead author.

‘Amazing, bodywide effects’

Levy is a pioneer in the field of cancer immunotherapy, in which researchers try to harness the immune system to combat cancer. Research in his laboratory led to the development of rituximab, one of the first monoclonal antibodies approved for use as an anti-cancer treatment in humans.
Some immunotherapy approaches rely on stimulating the immune system throughout the body. Others target naturally occurring checkpoints that limit the anti-cancer activity of immune cells. Still others, like the CAR T-cell therapy recently approved to treat some types of leukemia and lymphomas, require a patient’s immune cells to be removed from the body and genetically engineered to attack the tumor cells. Many of these approaches have been successful, but they each have downsides — from difficult-to-handle side effects to high-cost and lengthy preparation or treatment times.
“All of these immunotherapy advances are changing medical practice,” Levy said. “Our approach uses a one-time application of very small amounts of two agents to stimulate the immune cells only within the tumor itself. In the mice, we saw amazing, bodywide effects, including the elimination of tumors all over the animal.”
Cancers often exist in a strange kind of limbo with regard to the immune system. Immune cells like T cells recognize the abnormal proteins often present on cancer cells and infiltrate to attack the tumor. However, as the tumor grows, it often devises ways to suppress the activity of the T cells.
Levy’s method works to reactivate the cancer-specific T cells by injecting microgram amounts of two agents directly into the tumor site. (A microgram is one-millionth of a gram). One, a short stretch of DNA called a CpG oligonucleotide, works with other nearby immune cells to amplify the expression of an activating receptor called OX40 on the surface of the T cells. The other, an antibody that binds to OX40, activates the T cells to lead the charge against the cancer cells. Because the two agents are injected directly into the tumor, only T cells that have infiltrated it are activated. In effect, these T cells are “prescreened” by the body to recognize only cancer-specific proteins.

Cancer-destroying rangers

Some of these tumor-specific, activated T cells then leave the original tumor to find and destroy other identical tumors throughout the body.
The approach worked startlingly well in laboratory mice with transplanted mouse lymphoma tumors in two sites on their bodies. Injecting one tumor site with the two agents caused the regression not just of the treated tumor, but also of the second, untreated tumor. In this way, 87 of 90 mice were cured of the cancer. Although the cancer recurred in three of the mice, the tumors again regressed after a second treatment. The researchers saw similar results in mice bearing breast, colon and melanoma tumors.
I don’t think there’s a limit to the type of tumor we could potentially treat, as long as it has been infiltrated by the immune system.
Mice genetically engineered to spontaneously develop breast cancers in all 10 of their mammary pads also responded to the treatment. Treating the first tumor that arose often prevented the occurrence of future tumors and significantly increased the animals’ life span, the researchers found.
Finally, Sagiv-Barfi explored the specificity of the T cells by transplanting two types of tumors into the mice. She transplanted the same lymphoma cancer cells in two locations, and she transplanted a colon cancer cell line in a third location. Treatment of one of the lymphoma sites caused the regression of both lymphoma tumors but did not affect the growth of the colon cancer cells.
“This is a very targeted approach,” Levy said. “Only the tumor that shares the protein targets displayed by the treated site is affected. We’re attacking specific targets without having to identify exactly what proteins the T cells are recognizing.”
The current clinical trial is expected to recruit about 15 patients with low-grade lymphoma. If successful, Levy believes the treatment could be useful for many tumor types. He envisions a future in which clinicians inject the two agents into solid tumors in humans prior to surgical removal of the cancer as a way to prevent recurrence due to unidentified metastases or lingering cancer cells, or even to head off the development of future tumors that arise due to genetic mutations like BRCA1 and 2.
“I don’t think there’s a limit to the type of tumor we could potentially treat, as long as it has been infiltrated by the immune system,” Levy said.
The work is an example of Stanford Medicine’s focus on precision health, the goal of which is to anticipate and prevent disease in the healthy and precisely diagnose and treat disease in the ill.
The study’s other Stanford co-authors are senior research assistant and lab manager Debra Czerwinski; professor of medicine Shoshana Levy, PhD; postdoctoral scholar Israt Alam, PhD; graduate student Aaron Mayer; and professor of radiology Sanjiv Gambhir, MD, PhD.
Levy is a member of the Stanford Cancer Institute and Stanford Bio-X.
Gambhir is the founder and equity holder in CellSight Inc., which develops and translates multimodality strategies to image cell trafficking and transplantation.

Robotic approach could accelerate regenerative medicine research and drug discovery

A robotic system has been developed to automate the production of human mini-organs derived from stem cells. The ability to rapidly, mass produce organoids promises to expand the use of mini-organs in basic research and drug discovery. An automated system that uses robots has been designed to rapidly produce human mini-organs derived from stem cells. Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle developed the new system.
The advance promises to greatly expand the use of mini-organs in basic research and drug discovery, according to Benjamin Freedman, assistant professor of medicine, Division of Nephrology, at the UW School of Medicine, who led the research effort.
"This is a new 'secret weapon' in our fight against disease,' said Freedman, who is a scientist at the UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, as well as at the Kidney Research Institute, a collaboration between the Northwest Kidney Centers and UW Medicine.
A report describing the new technique will be published online May 17 in the journal Cell Stem Cell. The lead authors were research scientists Stefan Czerniecki, and Nelly Cruz from the Freedman lab, and Dr. Jennifer Harder, assistant professor of internal medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, where she is a kidney disease specialist.
The traditional way to grow cells for biomedical research, Freeman explained, is to culture them as flat, two-dimensional sheets, which are overly simplistic. In recent years, researchers have been increasingly successful in growing stem cells into more complex, three-dimensional structures called mini-organs or organoids. These resemble rudimentary organs and in many ways behave similarly. While these properties make organoids ideal for biomedical research, they also pose a challenge for mass production. The ability to mass produce organoids is the most exciting potential applications of the new robotic technology, according to the developers.
In the new study, the researchers used a robotic system to automate the procedure for growing stem cells into organoids. Although similar approaches have been successful with adult stem cells, this is the first report of successfully automating the manufacture of organoids from pluripotent stem cells. That cell type is versatile and capable of becoming any type of organ.
In this process, the liquid-handling robots introduced the stem cells into plates that contained as many as 384 miniature wells each, and then coaxed them to turn into kidney organoids over 21 days. Each little microwell typically contained ten or more organoids, and each plate contained thousands of organoids. With a speed that would have impressed Henry Ford's car assembly line, the robots could produce many plates in a fraction of the time.
"Ordinarily, just setting up an experiment of this magnitude would take a researcher all day, while the robot can do it in 20 minutes," said Freedman.
"On top of that, the robot doesn't get tired and make mistakes," he added. "There's no question. For repetitive, tedious tasks like this, robots do a better job than humans."
The researchers further trained robots to process and analyze the organoids they produced. Harder and her colleagues at the University of Michigan Kidney Center used an automated, cutting-edge technique called single cell RNA sequencing to identify all the different types of cells found in the organoids.
"We established that these organoids do resemble developing kidneys, but also that they contain non-kidney cells that had not previously been characterized in these cultures," said Harder.
"These findings give us a better idea of the nature of these organoids and provide a baseline from which we can make improvements," Freedman said. "The value of this high-throughput platform is that we can now alter our procedure at any point, in many different ways, and quickly see which of these changes produces a better result."
Demonstrating this, the researchers discovered a way to greatly expand the number of blood vessel cells in their organoids to make them more like real kidneys.
The researchers also used their new technique to search for drugs that could affect disease. In one of these experiments, they produced organoids with mutations that cause polycystic kidney disease, a common, inherited condition that affects one in 600 people worldwide and often leads to kidney failure.
In this disease, tiny tubes in the kidneys and other organs swell like balloons and form expanding cysts that crowd out the healthy tissue.
In their experiment, the researchers exposed the polycystic kidney disease organoids to a number of substances. They found that one, a factor called blebbistatin that blocks a protein called myosin, led to a significant increase in the number and size of cysts.
"This was unexpected, since myosin was not known to be involved in PKD," Freedman said. Myosin, which is better known for its role in muscle contraction, may allow kidney tubules to expand and contract. If it is not functioning properly it might lead to cysts, Freedman explained.
"It's definitely a pathway we will be looking at," he said.

Not so long ago a Father reanimated a young man from the grips of death. This Papa was no ordinary rolling stone, yet he did manage to move a stone bolder which secured the tomb of His resurrected Son. Subsequent to Jesus' resurrection the Apostles, Mary Magdalene and several others walked with Him proclaiming God’s gift to Mankind - the gift of everlasting life. Jesus travelled in the region for forty days and then he was conscripted back into the heavens.  On the fiftieth day Jesus anointed the Apostles with the gift of the Holy Spirit. This Christian day of worship is known as Pentecost. We celebrate it today, May 20, 2018. 

The Christian trilogy of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit was officially consecrated. The trilogy is no stranger to history, for the same trilogy exists in Hinduism and many other religions. The main gods of the Hindus are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. While the Holy Spirit was sent down to heal the broken, Shiva is the “destroyer” goddess evoked by the madmen of our times to destroy humanity. A monument of Shiva is placed at the entrance of the CERN facility in Switzerland. In seeking the god-particle and the millions of other universes, the resident scientists hold fast to the notion that our destruction may become a by-product of their curiosity.

As the Apostles walked from city to city proclaiming the word of God they performed many miracles, converting jews and gentiles alike. But Caiaphas and the Council of Sanhedrin did not approve of such treachery. In Acts 13:46 Paul and Barnabas say of the jews:

“We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles”.

It took two millennia for a jewish mystic named Rabbi Yitzhak Kudari to come to know the truth spoken by Paul and Barnabas, yet his message of salvation was once again thrust into the darkness by the jews.

As I watched Harry and Meghan’s wedding ceremony, I could not stop contemplating the two words employed by the media - upper crust and commoner. To think that there exists a higher plane that warrants a human to have dominion over another is absurd. Yet history has managed to create these invisible divisions by the use of war, theft and lies. The planet has many layers of crust which rotate and shift over time. It is always the most inward of layers which creates the greatest destruction atop the visible upper crust. The actions of Mother Earth are symbolic of God's future judgement upon those who have abused His creation and refused to acknowledge Him.

Amusingly, the “upper crust” sat in a house of God celebrating more their own stature in life, rather than celebrating Harry and Meghan’s wedding. They ogled and chuckled and appeared more amused by their own good fortunes. Ironically, it is these very people who “cult”-ivate the plagues of destruction afflicting the planet today. Wether it be the pharisee, prince, pawn broker or the pretorian politician, they all seek to guard their own interests.

Bishop Curry spoke of fire, but neglected to mention that the soul is an eternal source of energy and fire.  That same fire also nourishes our ability to love. But seeding and harvesting love in fields filled with the blood-soaked remains of war becomes an ominous challenge. You may not know it but energy, or fire, is transferable from one entity to another. In these days of Shiva, evil’s vampire-like addiction to destroy creation is its one primary goal. Humanity’s entanglement with evil is so profoundly suicidal that we cannot imagine the end result. It is that evil that consumes our love and will ultimately consume our souls.

Satan’s month and day are only weeks away.  His mind is filled only with wickedness and there are only a few amongst us who dare undertake his ambitions. The essence of all thought is a mystery, even for the one who contemplates only evil, yet it is the human hand that brings that evil to fruition. We are on the path to self-destruction by choice. Nero's violin will once again play as the Earth is consumed by fire. The cello playing Ave Maria appeared such a better choice.

Candle Magick (Part 1 of 2)

Today am going to share with you a very potent but somewhat lost art, the simple but powerful magical art of using candles and oils.
Candle magick is not really taken too seriously these days, and it is a system that is often overlooked a form of low magic that is actually extraordinarily ancient, and it is a form of fire magick.
One reason the system is quite often overlooked nowadays is as I mentioned, its simplicity.
The cheapness of candles nowadays and oils have given people the illusion that it is merely beginners magic and they often sidestep this because they want to go on to something more glamorous and prestigious like communicating with spirits.
And yet this fundamental practice is a massive equalizer, a hidden secret from times of old that is very effective when mastered.
However, very few people have actually mastered it because they're in a rush for something more glamorous.
This then opens the door for you to master candle magic, it is compelling, and it will give you and bring you many advantages, protections and results you seek thereby proving to you that magic works in the most straightforward forms.
The Catholic Church, for example, knew the power of prayer combined with the proper burning of incense dressing candles with certain oils and chance, so much so that most of the clergy and churchgoers in the beginning never realized that their prayers were actually like spells and it did bring results.

Around the mid-1980s when occult groups started releasing books on candle magic the secret was out, churchgoers began understanding how they could use their prayers along with candles to bring massive results, and the church feared losing control.
Therefore under the guise of being concerned with fire safety, they started eliminating the use of real candles during the prayer sessions because they wanted to remove this knowledge so that their followers would be dependent on them for much longer.
So you see candle magic has been acknowledged and verified as being extremely powerful,  it works period, and the church has recognized this.
This is mild compared with what the Islamic faith does to those that show any interest in freeing themselves through magick.
But one belief nearly every culture seems to agree upon is that fire symbolizes the absolute ultimate power and ability to purify.
It represents spirit in its purest form, the manifestation of God or Goddess in the vehicle by which to reach them.
The legends of the secret fires, which were gifts of the god or goddess and not made by any human hand gave way to portable flames such as the torch, oil lamp, and candle.
For simplicity and convenience, candles became the most popular way and form with which to communicate with the higher self and the god or goddess force.
The flame represented the spirits highest potential, while the smoke carried the prayers and desires to the deities. Herbal offerings placed in the fire or embedded inside to candle itself gave off a very pleasing aroma that often induced hypnotic trances and heightened awareness. This altered state of consciousness and hypnotic trance state along with prayer, chants, songs, dance, herbs, and any combination of those above accompanied by a firm burning desire within the seeker, creating a very mysterious energetic response called magick.
It was soon found that adequately created candles actually encompassed all the essential elements necessary to produce this magical state in one compact waxed unit the candle. The candles popularity as one of the ultimate magical taught tools was then assured.
It wasn't until the invention of electricity that the candle came into jeopardy as a tool of late magic and spiritual petition.
Michael Mack pointed out in an article in the US Catholic which is a magazine published in April 1989 he states for a variety of reasons many Catholic churches have replaced the traditional wax candles with electrical lights.
Mack noted that many of the parishioners objected to this and in a significant portion of the churches some were still keeping votive candles on hand.
He added though the due to the fire hazard which was actually the guise the church used as a way to force removal of actual wax candles from its churches, the ones that had rebelled against the order of not using real candles still had to abide to some extent, and the flames had to be extinguished at night when unattended. As we noted, while this is probably a very logical sounding safety step to prevent fire, it was extremely rare that churches ever caught fire, very rare indeed and this new practice was highly questionable when it came to prayer and magic.
So why did the Catholic Church try and remove candles from all its churches?
Understanding that its parishioners were actually becoming awakened while petitioning the Saints, God and the angels with lit candles and prayers, it also realized that this direct communication with the God Force would ultimately remove power from their institution.
People were communicating directly with the God Force, and this meant that sooner or later the parishioners would realize they wouldn't need the institution of the physical church or an organization any longer.
So now that we’ve touched upon a bit about the real power of candle magic let's get down and actually perform some for ourselves.
It is a skill I urge you to keep at until you master it correctly, will serve you well no matter what your economic situation may be starting out.
Candles are cheap, oils are cheap, and the results you can get from candle magic can sometimes be absolutely outstanding.
Disclaimer: candle magic will not solve all your problems immediately nor will it change the world overnight, but it is still a potent tool toward those ends. It can help you to realize that events can be altered and influenced by your directed energy.

The Eschatology of Spring

Spring is not only the season of resurrection, but also of reincarnation. That which contained the seed of rebirth, springs anew, and that which died conquered death by re-animating itself into an alternate state or life-form.  Spring is a time when Mother Nature reawakens our call to understand our own personal eschatology. 

Death is as mysterious as a barren tree. While in its dormancy the sap continues to flow and the roots continue to seek nourishment. A human body sleeping in eternity feeds all life forms and transforms itself into a life-source for all other life. All that was dead is recycled forever and ever. Flesh and fauna become no different than the eternal soul.

But what of the soul. Does such an eternal energy exist? When one dies, does this invisible engine of life escape into the greater cataclysm we know as the universe, or does it simply extinguish itself, as would a candle? This is the fundamental question that leads us to affirm or deny the existence of God. For to believe in a spiritual after-life one must acknowledge the Creator who made it possible, and to deny it means you seek only to become a food source for Mother Nature.

Now we must ask if Mother Nature has a soul, and why would it not? Does the ameba, bird or flower have a connection to God. Our symbiotic relationship with Mother Nature should lead one to conclude yes. Mother Nature not only fuels life, but also draws us to consume and cannibalize all that death has transformed. Mother Nature has transformed the carbon dioxide we exhaled, transformed the feces and urine we have expelled, and transformed the remains of those who seeded our existence.

We are perpetual in both flesh and spirit. Enjoy the journey.

How to Make Penicillin To Survive When SHTF

Can you imagine dying from a cut on your finger or a scrape on your knee? How about a respiratory infection or a toothache?
Before the invention of penicillin, the first antibiotic, that could have been your cause of death. If SHTF, access to antibiotics may become limited or impossible. If that happens, it’s important to know how to make antibiotics at home.
To understand the importance of antibiotics, think of it in larger terms. They would have cured the bubonic plague, which was a bacterial infection that took 100 million lives in the 14th century. It was originally caused by infected rats and the fleas that had bitten them, and then bitten a person. Since it was highly contagious, after a person was infected by the rat or flea, the infection then spread from them to other people.
Antibiotics also cure tuberculosis, a highly contagious bacterial disease that still exists today. As a matter of fact, in 2014 alone, more than 9 million people were reported to have it.
All bacterial infections are contagious to some degree, though for some, such as ones that cause an infected tooth or cut, the risk of infection is low because it’s mostly blood born. With other infections, such as tuberculosis, all you have to do is breathe the same air to become infected.
Though we think of the plague as something long behind us, we’re only protected from it because of access to antibiotics. If society collapses, pandemics like it could wreak the same havoc on humanity as they did then.
For thousands of years, Chinese medicine has used fungi to treat skin infections. World-wide, a common treatment for any skin lesion was a poultice made of dirt, which likely contained fungi. For thousands of years, people may not have known WHY something worked; they just knew that it did. Fortunately, we don’t have to depend on such blind faith anymore, so let’s get on with it.
Making penicillin at home is difficult, but possible if you have the right equipment and ingredients. First things first, though: don’t do it unless it’s truly a survival situation.
First, commercial antibiotics have been made by the pros, and they’re a known quantity. Second, making drugs at home, whether they’re legal or illegal, is frowned upon, and distributing them is illegal in most places.

How to Make Penicillin

This is a no-brainer, right? It’s made from bread mold, so you just leave a loaf out, cook up the mold or something, then take it, yes? Umm, no. Penicillin is made from the penicillium fungus found on foods such as some breads and fruits (a moldy cantaloupe played a huge role in initial experiments), but here’s the thing – the bacteria has to be stressed.
So, you have to grow the fungus, then introduce it to stressors before you can use it to make penicillin.
Very important heads up – your culture has to be grown and cultivated in a sterile environment or else other bugs and nasties will contaminate it and cause a Frankin-culture instead of the pure penicillium culture that you need to make antibiotics.
There’s a simple but less reliable way of making penicillin, and then there are steps that you can take to ensure that your end result is penicillin. Warning: though: it’s complicated and requires chemicals that can be quite expensive and have limited shelf lives.
Equipment needed:
  • A gram scale
  • Separatory funnel
  • A 1-liter glass container
  • 750 ml Erlenmeyer flask with a non-absorbent plug
  • A pH test kit
  • 2 pieces of whole wheat bread
  • A cantaloupe rind, more bread, or citrus fruit
Step 1 – Set out the rind, bread or fruit and let it mold (we’ll call this the host). It will go through a few phases. First the mold will be white or gray, then it will turn blue, then a bright blue-green. This is the color you want. Note: if you choose to use bread, it’s best to make it yourself because many bakeries use an ingredient that inhibits mold growth.
Step 2 – Sterilize the flask by putting it in the pressure cooker at 15 lb. for at least 15 minutes, or bake it at 315 degrees F for an hour.
Step 3 – Cut the whole wheat bread (see note in step 1) into 1/2-inch cubes and place them in the flask, careful to be as sterile as you can.
Step 4 – scrape the blue-green mold from the host and place it in with the bread. Again, be as sterile with this step as you can, for instance, boil the tongs that you’re using.
Step 5 – Place the flask in a dark place that’s around 70 degrees and allow it to incubate for 5 days.
At this point, some people may say that you’re done and you can just slap the “penicillin” on the wound or make tea or soup from the bread. We don’t recommend it.
Step 6 – Now it’s going to get complicated. You’re going to need the following ingredients:
  • Lactose Monohydrate 44 gm
  • Corn Starch 25 gm
  • Sodium Nitrate 3 gm
  • Magnesium Sulfate 0.25 gm
  • Potassium Monophosphate 0.50 gm
  • Glucose Monohydrate 2.75 gm
  • Zinc Sulfate 0.044 gm
  • Manganese Sulfate 0.044 gm
A lot of preppers have this idea that when a disaster strikes, they’ll just bug out to a rural area. They think they’ll be safe in an area with so few people.

Now, according to the instructions that I found (neither of which were actual medical sites because, as usual, there aren’t any actual medical sites that describe how to make anything like this at home), it says to dissolve these in tap water.
After researching, it seems that distilled water would be the best to use for the next step because we want to keep things as sterile as possible and tap water has unknown variables. That’s just my opinion and I’m definitely not a formally trained scientist, so use what you prefer.
Step 7 – So, back to it. Sterilize the 1+ liter container, then dissolve the above ingredients in 500 ml of cold water. Add more cold water to make it a full liter.
Step 8 – Use hydrochloric acid (HCL) to adjust the pH to 5.0-5.5 using your pH test kit.
Step 9 – Sterilize the container along with the solution as described above.
Step 10 – Allow the solution to cool, then add the mold. Incubate it for another 7 days under the same conditions as before. It’s important that the fluid isn’t jostled around so put it where it won’t be moved.
If you’ve done it correctly, you’re almost done. Now it’s time to extract the penicillin that’s infused in the fluid.
Step 11 – Filter the mix through a coffee filter or sterilized cheesecloth.
Step 12 – Adjust the pH of the solution to 2.2 using the HCL and the pH test kit.
Step 13 – Mix with cold ethyl acetate in the separatory funnel and shake vigorously for 30 seconds or so then allow it to separate. The ethyl acetate will be at the bottom.
Step 14 – Chill a beaker in an ice bath and drain the ethyl acetate into it. Add 1 percent potassium acetate and mix it again.
Step 15 – Let the ethyl acetate evaporate off while the solution is still in the beaker. You want plenty of air circulating through.
Step 16 – You have penicillin, assuming you did everything right. Actually the crystals that remain are potassium penicillin and potassium acetate.
This is a pretty scientific process and not something that you should undertake lightly, just to save yourself a few bucks on a prescription.
Because there are so many variables, making your own penicillin is tricky at best. Yes, you may have penicillin but you may have some bad bugs in there, too. But if SHTF, you’re dying from septicemia and you have no other viable options, then it’s not like this is going to make anything worse.
There are also many other sources of natural antibiotics that you can eat or even use topically, including honey, garlic, oil of oregano, and ginger. Honey is also a great preventive because in addition to killing something that may have gotten into the wound, it also acts as a barrier to keep other bugs out.
If you opt to use this recipe, it may be best to test it on a patch of your skin first to see if you have a reaction then go from there.
