18 Wheels and Quote by Diefenbaker

“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.”

– John Diefenbaker, July 1, 1960 from the Canadian Bill of Rights.

Eighteen WheelsMy heart grew emptier with each passing day

My thoughts bundled in a sea of inexplicable anguish

My fellow Man had become imbroiled in the tragic consequences of the moment

Naive fools neglecting the admonitions of the prophets

But along a dark lonely highway arose a mighty roar

Eighteen wheels packing hope for all humanity

A convoy which grew greater with each passing day

Canada destined to become the land Magna Carta was once again given birth

From British Columbia to the New Found Land

Canadians raised and rejoiced alongside the mighty Maple Leaf

Freedom had found a voice

The invisible chains started to fall as the humble Truckers prayed the Our Father

Unshaven warriors holding firm in their mighty chariots

Men and women all of colours and creed

Samurai garbed in toques, down vests and worn torn jeans

Theirs was not the mandate of parliamentarians

Around the world Canada has become a symbol for hope and freedom

Arousing courage even in the mighty America

Polite Canucks standing row on row along highways and atop bridges saluting their brave warriors

No guns, no violence just a common cause

The roar of the Trucks has grown louder with each passing day

From Canberra to all of Europe

Slowly awakening the Eagle in repose, and

Now all around the world

Thank you,

Joseph Pede
