animals pray
orang-utans scurry as the chain-saws approach
insects burrow ahead of the excavator’s crawl
birds relinquish flight to mechanized wings
elephants seek refuge in the vanishing tundra
Animals pray but Mankind does not listen
the jungle has turned to Hell
demons find refuge in the crevices of the human mind
the saints angrily retreat to their graves
angels ready salvation for the brave enlightened few
dogs hopelessly pray for their tormented masters
justice no longer as the ebb and flow of the ocean
the want exceeded the need
reason succumb to the persecution of a veiled forgotten foe
love a victim of an unholy compromise
animals pray, but they have prayed for naught
Thank you,
Joseph Pede
