Last Gospel
and so it was written
the apostles ordained the fall of Man
the final revelation vilified and forgotten
the covenant broken
the prophets had come and gone
their work silenced by the magic of the times
Man had learned to walk alone
stigmatized by the weight of hypocrisy
content to parade an empty flesh-lined vessel
with the soul held captive inside the hollow
casting only shadows alongside the church stones
in ruin, as the adjoining graveyard
there was no last gospel for Mankind
the rite of passage was lost
the invisible shackles to burdensome to reveal the truth
light could no longer filter through the darkness
