the first day of May
it was on the first day of May
long long ago
the oceans were tranquil
the sun timidly concealed midst the nebula
a time when Mother Nature first embraced life
when Humankind spontaneously generated
chaos was given vitality and form
the predator had found its prey
hate forthwith challenged love
humankind was set adrift, aboard a sinking ship
winds filled the sluggish sails
oars rowed aimlessly in confusion
the rudder wrapped in woes
the anchor lost to the ocean deep
atop the deck fomented mutiny
the first tribe had fallen ill to anarchy
the wooden planks were filled only with opposing points of view
the ship’s wheel forlornly swaying to and fro
the vessel anxiously awaiting a steady hand
one who would navigate the stars
an argonaut who did not fear the journey
but who amongst the many would take charge
the seas were a mystery to all the initiates
but the first commander quickly emerged
void of knowledge
yet filled with ambition and ego
humankind had succumb to its first coup
the waters were no longer in charge
the empty masts had rendered the vessel captive
the oars chained the hands of humanity
the ship was cast in the direction of the rocks
the singular lifeboat would only comfort the few
the new eden would be void of fools
thank you,
