Christmas is in the air
Yet the church bells no longer chime
The snow now crystal clear water
Families divided by foolish circumstance
Prayer abandoned by the devices of daily routine
Instead we hunger for the madness of the mall
The rush to empty the liquor store shelves
Reservations at the local diner fill the night’s end
Perhaps a movie to help feed the brothels of Hollywood
Peace and quiet no longer a family staple
Reflection and togetherness a lost cause
The old abandoned to the mayhem of the television
The others rotting away alone, in a home for the lost
Kids amused by ten dollar an hour strangers
The pizza delivery man becomes the only excitement
Video games help waste away the night
Soda fills the already toxic belly
In the distance children are being slaughtered
Homes are being razed to the ground
The masters of mayhem busily counting their shekels
Bethlehem closed for hell days
Christmas now lingers in the jews’ polluted air
Merry Christmas
Joseph Pede
