keep tab
only follow the demons you know
shrug them off as you go through life
keep tab of the evil you do
empty the load by journey’s end
evil erases the baptismal varnish
it acts as turpentine on the soul’s veneer
somewhere along the journey adopt a saint
should you be lucky befriend a monk
demons have no time for church hymns
nor is abstinence in their decree
they impregnate whomever they meet
squandering sin with every intercourse
instead say a prayer each day and night
angelic words baffle the bastards
hold stedfast to your religious rites
one last amen may save your soul
only follow the demons you know
keep tab of the good you failed to do
thank you,
