deep inside the grotto
the poet is destined to write of sorrow
forgotten will be yesterday’s tragic morrow
the stars shine bright
but only in the darkness of the night
the mind is free of tragic illusions
yet surrounded by the madness of life’s delusions
the painter is blessed many times more
the canvas absolved by the tragedy of war
the pallet free to choose any colour hue
blessed is the weave adorned in lapis blue
the painter can masque the sorrow
for the cipher is buried deep inside the grotto
