a broken heart
i fell in love with love long before I knew love
love hid himself from me
for a young child does not need love
he survives on happiness
on oblivion
but love teaches life in the absence of love
love wants you to experience anger and hate
death and despair
indifference and lies
love wants you to know the other side of love
only a broken heart can teach you this
love takes your breath away
it weakens every limb in your body, and
it locks down Heaven's gates
only God can explain these things
for He made love for you to understand Him
love hurts even when it feels good
how can you explain this craziness
caring is not enough
embracing love is everything
even if finding love is a million miles away
it can be in stranger's smile, or
in the tear-filled passing of your first puppy
a grandparent saying goodbye with their final breath
perhaps a friend who walks away in anger, or
seeing a Palestinian child’s body scattered in the street
forgetting love is easy
turning a blind eye is even easier
love is work because hate is easy
a heart that is broken is hard to mend
for it stores all life’s sadness, and
hate fills all the cavities
there is much hate in this world
build something better than a broken heart
build life
fall in love with love
