Brian Mulroney
Canada has lost another great one. In the movie a Bronx Tale, a great one meant a potential suitor unlocked your car door. With the passing of Brian Mulroney the parliamentary heavens have welcomed a new member to the celestial cabinet. Who opened that door is a great mystery. I’ve been advised that St Peter does not allow politicians direct entry into the celestial cabinet. They generally start off as backbenchers in purgatory. I’ve also been advised that Peter is unaware that any one of them have ever left purgatory. Some have presented a fake “get out of purgatory” pass and snuck in when Peter was seen scrumming with Gord Downie. Fake passes can be purchased from the Trudeau offices in Geneva, providing they present their fraudulent Covid vaccine pass.
Brian certainly knew how to pick a wife - elegant and classy. Mila without question is the finest example of a first lady, even though Canada provides for no such title, and Brian knew how to check out, by choosing February 29 as a departure date. But here we are, March 19, and he’s still hanging around. My hunch is that he was intent on sharing a pint of ale with that Roman disguised as an Irishman, St Patrick. Brian wanted clarification on what best defines a snake.
It is a great feat to join the ranks of the political establishment. The mounds of people one has to step over, or upon, comes with incredible odds of failure, yet a great pair of shoes certainly helps. Perhaps the main reason why politicians are seen buying new shoes at key political moments.
Nonetheless, Canada should never be a short of a good Irish Catholic. Who the heck else would support our diminishing local pubs, or start a good brawl, even if there appears to be a diminishing population of ginger women to defend.
I’m not sure any politician does anything worth noting for the people, but they certainly believe they have done so, and that’s what separates politicians from the press. The politicians believe they have done so, the press just out and out lies and makes you believe it’s the truth.
We certainly want to wish Brian good luck with St Peter. Hopefully, he had a chance to kiss the ole Blarney Stone before the committee of inebriated leprechauns accompanied him to the pearly gates. My advice, avoid any airline representatives on the way up.
Thank you,
Joseph Pede
