In 1953 to combat the threat to the oil companies, the CIA engineered a coup and overthrew then Prime Minister Mossadegh. The CIA replaced Mossadegh, who ruled from 1951-1953 with the Shah of Iran whose name was Mohammed Reza Pahlevi. But Pahlevi was clearly a dictator.
1953 was the year America created the so-called terrorist state we know today as Iran. 1948 was the year Great Britain created the Apartheid regime we know as Israel.
After the 1953 coup that reinstated the Shah of Iran, the CIA maintained a significant presence in the country, primarily to support the Shah's regime and counter perceived communist threats. The agency helped train the SAVAK, the Shah’s secret police, which was involved in widespread surveillance, repression, and torture of dissenters.
