the eatery

the eatery

our world has become as mashed potatoes

covered by low-hanging marshmallow clouds

the formless meatballs are over-cooked

pasta passed the timely time of al dente

the Angus has been charbroiled to death

croutons gelatinized inside the French Onion soup

the split pea can no longer repair the tear

mustard is now looking everywhere for the pastrami

humanity’s cookbook is void of cover

the pressure-cooked stew has turned to mush

the corner diner over-shadowed by the opulent eatery

the manna from heaven has vacated the Ark

bagels now the ambrosia of the gods

the world has become entranced by a single pierogi

slowly boiled by sixteen culinary masters

the eatery is closed but the dinner table is set

thank you,

joseph pede
