The word is a supernatural device

God’s first words proved instrumental in creating paradise

In time Man haphazardly toiled to define each thing and action

Sentences formed when words clashed to forge a chain reaction

In the beginning words did their best to start a dialogue

Time eventually introduced us to the oratious demagogue

These masters of diction found ways of giving words an altered dimension

One might say this was the time of Doublespeak’s invention

Wizards, witches and necromancers perfected the grimoire’s mystique 

Social engineers sought to limit language to 1984’s Newspeak

Men in albs desperately professed the Good Book’s mystical content

Saying it would ease society’s deepening and destructive torment
