The Rain
the night was filled with wind and rain
tree limbs swayed to and fro
leaves waved an irreversible good bye
raindrops frolicked atop the roof
shadowy nebula masked themselves midst the dark
peeping stars momentarily brought themselves to life
the falling rain invisible to the eyes
moonlit threads of water sporadically appeared
spirits taunted the wet blades of grass
weeds grew impassioned by the haunted souls
worms subdued by the intoxicating apparitions
hooting owls screeched in secret code
the tears of heaven had nourished all of death’s remains
hydrated the winded ashes and transformed the dust
washed away the scars left behind by you and I
welcomed a new day with a fresh scent of life
Thank you,
Joseph Pede
