Individuals with disabilities know that daily life becomes much more challenging when one is missing a limb, or another impairment exists. These individuals must work harder and smarter to achieve an end result. Canada and the USA, whether we like it or not, are attached in many ways, and breaking apart may not be as easy as one believes. The 4-Nations hockey tournament proved one thing, not that Canada won, but starting this week all those players will reunite with teams and countries they did not represent. The “league is bigger than the game”.
My wife and I have been buying Canadian products for decades, and try to do so at all times. We did not need a national crisis to be patriotic, but patriotism has its limits, and then common sense should prevail. As I’ve stated before, Trump is a harbinger. Political and economic forces are everywhere. Babel was once such a force, and it was a force against God. While the world sinks deeper into despotism, embracing both a culture of death and evil, we must ask if the basic premise which Babel tried to achieve, that of unification, could be a force for good. I still believe that a unified Canada and USA could be a force for good, not one subservient to the other, but both becoming beacons for a safer and more accountable world.
Tariffs are economic tools, behaviour is instinctual. Common sense requires effort. Examine the state of both our economies and all the industries that function as a result of that relationship. Retaliation is never one sided. When you punch an opponent, you injure your own hand.
Thank you,
Joseph Pede
