Import tariffs mean that Americans will pay Trump's tariffs, and Canadians will pay Trudeau's tariffs. Trump, as already been discussed, had a reason for imposing tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods, with an additional sur-charge on Chinese goods.
Trudeau has enraged the Canadian public for absolutely no reason and he will cost Canadians money and jobs. If Trudeau really cared about Canadians why did he not impose "export tariffs" on Americans supplying goods to Canada. These tariffs would be paid by American exporters directly to CRA and have no direct impact on Canadians. China uses export tariffs for the sale of rare earth minerals in an effort to control global consumption. These types of tariffs would definitely raise the ire of Trump and would be considered very risky for many reasons.
What the hell happened to Mexican-Canadian trade. It's like it never existed and what will that relationship look like going forward.
What about the E.U. I didn't hear anything about tariffs on the E.U. The USA has a trade deficit with the EU that approximates $150-200 billion. That certainly eclipses Canadian trade numbers. Has anyone asked why.
Do Canadians believe that Canadian retailers will keep prices near parity after the tariffs have been enacted. Do you believe French's Canadian-made ketchup will be at least 25% cheaper than American Heinz's ketchup, even though French's is about dollar cheaper right now.
We have a prime minister intent on proroguing parliament as Canada steers a rudderless ship. The Liberals are more intent on getting re-elected, so much so, that they are sacrificing Canada in the process. Here's the big secret. The tariffs will likely be removed when the Liberal party is obliterated and a new Conservative government is elected. Trump is doing at least this much for Canadians - embarrassing Trudeau and the Liberals. He hates them and everything they stand for. Call it foreign interference, call it a blessing, Trump, I truly believe, is on Canada's side.
Trump is trying to construct a secure North America and protect it from Globalism. That North America will include Greenland, Mexico and Latin America. The Gates of Entry will be the Panama Canal. He wants no part of Globalism. In order for him to achieve security and independence for North Americans he must do whatever possible to achieve this end. Scheinbaum, Carney and Freeland are ALL part of the Globalist mission. Canadians are idiots for not recognizing this very simple fact. Trump wants them gone. Trump, is not attempting to destroy Canadian sovereignty but rather build a FREE and SECURE North America. If you don't believe in Agenda 2030 and 15-minute Cities you are asleep at the wheel. You will own nothing and be happy. Trump is a capitalist not a Trappist monk. He is building a warrior army for a reason.
The tariffs will injure Canada, but they are more of a preemptive strike against the Globalists. A fall in the markets will cost the Globalists a lot of money and rearrange the financial markets. To what extent we will soon find out. Trump is attacking the enemy on our behalf.
Think before you boo Trump and America. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
