if America breaks
the promise remains unbroken
the voice has yet to be crippled
opportunity still abounds
Billy the Kid's infamy never ended
the holstered gun is still the weapon of freedom and chaos
just like it was over two hundred years ago
every city name memorialized by a rock song
assassination and celebrity-ascension walk hand in hand
ingenuity and ignorance cross paths on the streets of New York city
drug dealers rage in the alleyways of San Francisco
patsies and politicians, brothers in arms
Lucky Luciano and Capone never really died
there's enough Yankee testosterone to last another 250
Vegas has never bet against a loser
even defeat is celebrated as a win
and now we have Donald J Trump
the scrotum of the century
Europe bows, Canada crawls, and the rest remain on life support
but is DJT master or slave to the Holy Land's decadence
are the Masters of the Underworld lifting the veil
will the promise remain
will Plymouth Rock endure
will the one-time slave and the slave master continue to walk hand in hand
how much is left of the American Pie
will Dion's Abraham, Martin and John survive the Storm
will Bill Cody's Wild West endure
America was not an experiment, it is a journey to find something
thieves, slavers, visionaries and saints made it so
if America breaks, so too does the world
thank you,
joseph pede
Abraham, Martin and John by Dion DiMucci
Didn't you love the things that they stood for? Didn't they try to find some good for you and me? And we'll be free Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...
