you tried your best

you tried your best

there is a cold wind blowing
my loved one's arms fail to keep me warm
the nearby stranger turning blue with fear
children confused by the calm
bright lights dimmed by the haze
misery slowly crawling throughout the streets
rover is confused by the uneasiness
a dandelion rests amongst the withered tulips
radio waves heard in every direction
faceless voices resonating throughout the void
glass panels sweating emptiness
tower walls embraced by mold and mildew
the promise of a better world just became a lie
the one you trusted was a fraud
the gospel manipulated by grimoire
the short skirt revealed much but not the truth
the makeup made artificiality look real
the degree made you an expert in nothing
the wind is picking up steam
the cold turning into blistering heat
a fire will soon rage
what the heck, you tried your best, right

thank you,
joseph pede
