poem - reserve yours today

reserve yours today

something is brewing on the reservation
Canada's "crazy horse" is packing fortune cookies for the occasion
it's Carney, and he's got the "royal crown" backing him
no, not the one from across the pond
but rather a barrel of Canadian-made firewater
wanting to make sure the festivities are an inebriating event
after all, this is the powwow of the century
Canada's chief, and the native chiefs, are going to discuss oil
not sunflower or olive oil, but Clampett's kind of oil
talks include a big long pipe, not a peace pipe
you can't drive a Buick with tobacco
ask the Mennonites, their horses get high on the stuff
but the tribes are restless, history and Custer are a reminder
war paint and bonnet are always an option
no point in quivering
will the forkish tongue of "crazy horse" prevail, or
will the big white father from across the pond intervene
the ending will include talk of illegal drugs and guns
obviously to finalize the more important currencies of the world
stone carvings commemorating this event will be on sale
reserve yours today, before the railroad tracks are laid

thank you,
joseph pede
