Of Our Own Design

we are the product of our own design

placards are everywhere but we are a uniquely lit sign

solely scripting our many possibilities

agonizing when having to choose over the unending probabilities

frustrated by another person’s point of view

troubled by our birth’s avenue

uneasy if we fail to become part of the popular clan

bewildered when evicted by another’s attention span

fearful of being abandoned and left alone

with life ending with one name on the graveyard headstone

failing to find one’s love in this quickened life

destined to be absent of a husband or loving wife

we are each a sign of God’s prophetic doing

christened for a destiny of our own magical choosing

awaiting our decision to plant the post in the ground        
for our spirit to make a supernatural sound
