poem - Veni, Vidi, Vici

Veni, Vidi, Vici

there's an old saying
Veni, Vidi, Vici
the Roman trinity of achieving success
you came to this plane to achieve something as well
to experience what you saw from the heavens
well, have you learned anything
or is it all a waste of time
did you conquer self by losing the "self"
did you even know you had a self
the self animates the noggin on your head
the quantum that keeps the ticker ticking
the "it" that keeps winding the mind
it was virus-free in the beginning
then came the EMFs, smart dust, and nanoplastics
graphene oxide and nanotechs
bombarded by media and political speeches
the heavens were free of that shit
now you're like a Dairy Queen sundae
looking good, tasting good, but full of lard
delicious digestible manure
so how do you fix the "self"
did someone say detox
will that get rid of the demons
what about the cherry that sits atop the sundae
the one that reminds you of the clown's red nose
an affliction caused by snorting too many of Lucy's diamonds
Ringo didn't mind the occasional snort
he saw stars through the kaleidoscope
then he went down the river
discovered tangerine trees and marmalade skies
the fantasy freed his mind
he found his self
but unfortunately, he lost his soul

thank you,
joseph pede
