poem - Dante's Disco Inferno

Dante's Disco Inferno

i miss Sing Along with Mitch Miller, and his goatee
history moved way too quick
we didn't give Lawrence Welk a chance either
the bubbles blew away far too soon
Ed Sullivan had quite the stint
the madness of the times contributed to his fall
the Bonanza-of-late-night faded like black and white tv
Dick Clark proved to be immortal
American Bandstand became home to tv's youth culture
a musical elixir that still lingers today
things changed a little with Wolfman Jack
the Midnight Special became our late night drug
hints of Karloff and Lugosi, building Satan's Soul Train
ah, but everything came to a screeching halt
it wasn't Disney, but rather the new Boogie Wonderland
Dante's Disco Inferno
and, it gave us all a Saturday Night Fever
ales, served at the Pig & Whistle, were the only remedy

thank you,
joseph pede
